Amanwella Resort – Hotel Review

A dense tangle of palm trees tower over an 800-meter stretch of sugary sand at Awanwella resor, a seafront boutique in Sri Lanka near the town of Tangalle. This minimalist romantic hideaway has all the basics required to relax: space, comfort and scenic views. Sink into the sunbed for sunshine-filled days or set off to explore nearby jungle-fringed villages.
I remained at a fabulous Amanwella Resort for three nights and I am sure that I will be returning soon. The location of the resort is amazing, right on Sri Lanka’s south coast. I spent lots of time during my stay relaxing by the pool and occasionally walking down to the beach. The private beach is only a 45 second walk down, making it extremely easy to hop in the ocean for a quick dip
It takes around 3 or 4 hours from Colombo to Amanwella where you’ll locate the interesting small angling town of Tangalle – with just a single inn worth its name in the vicinity. The property is relatively large, so large in fact that tuk-tuks above drive guests from their villas to the beach or dinner (though everything is still in walkable distances).
I think what draws most people to this outstanding Aman property is the beautiful and immaculate crescent shoreline on Sri Lanka’s south coast extending for right around a kilometer. The dining experience there was also unreal. We had several peaceful dinners right on the beach, which I will miss the most!
As I stayed three nights and wanted some relaxing privacy on the large open terrace, I opted for the oceanfront villa. I do have to say this. the waking up to the view of that perfect beach was indeed quite extraordinary. I really want to go back there and relive it all over again.
The interior design is immediately recognizable as an Aman. reduced lines, an oh so light, but subtle Sri Lankan touch, but never austere. When I state Sri Lankan touch, I’m not discussing coconut shells, cinnamon bark, and pictures of elephants, however, more of the general format cites customary to Sri Lankan homes.
